With legal action against law enforcement officers on the rise, we continue to see an increasing need for comprehensive legal defense coverage.   This is why effective July 1, 2009, your legal defense plan changed.

The new and improved legal defense program was designed by attorneys and police officers to ensure the best possible protection to all FOP Lodge 99 members.  The new program is more comprehensive, has better coverage and is based here in Kansas City. The best part is that this new legal program comes with absolutely no change in your current FOP dues.

Unlike the previous legal defense plan, the new legal defense program covers FOP Lodge 99 members for any police action, whether on or off duty.

Your new legal program is being administered by McCauley & Roach LLC, which is located here in Kansas City, Missouri.  In additional to legal defense, the firm also provides Lodge 99 with legal representation at lodge meetings, Police Board meetings, Retirement Board meetings.

The law firm of McCauley & Roach, LLC will be handling all matters related to the representation of our officers, who are the subjects of criminal or administrative investigations, including reviewing 191s, preparing for grievance board hearings, litigating disciplinary cases before the Board of Police Commissioners, and responding to officer involved shootings and other critical incidents. Mr. McCauley and Mr. Roach have represented members of FOP Lodge 99 for nearly a decade and have a vast amount of experience. They also represent many of our law enforcement brothers and sisters in other lodges including FOP Lodge #1 in Independence, Missouri, West Central Regional Lodge #50 covering most of the agencies in Jackson and Cass Counties, FOP Lodge #3 in St. Joseph Missouri, FOP Lodge #4 in Kansas City, Kansas and other local lodges in Kansas and Colorado. FOP Lodge 99 members will continue to receive the same prompt and professional legal services from the attorneys at McCauley & Roach, LLC that they have received in the past.

Worker's Compensation is a concern in a profession as hazardous and physical as law enforcement. We hope each member will never need assistance for counsel for on-duty injury but if these services are required and a recommendation for legal counsel specializing in this area is needed:
