Scott Taylor serves as City Councilman for the 6th District at Large. Prior to being elected to the Council, Scott served as Vice President to the Center School District Board. He has been elected twice to the Board. Working with other members of the board, teachers and administrators, Center School District has been recognized by the State of Missouri for achieving the highest level of accreditation; Fully Accredited with Distinction. He has also led school district bond and levy campaigns and coordinated the Learn Green Live Green Initiative in Kansas City for students to integrate green technology into their curriculum.
Scott has served on a variety of community boards involving anti-crime efforts, mental health, drug treatment and education. He was appointed as Commissioner with the Jackson County COMBAT Commission which seeks to reduce crime and violence in the community. He is a former Chairman of the Board of Directors of ReDiscover Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services which provide drug treatment and counseling services to those who need it the most in our community. Scott is also a former Chair of Kansas City’s Liquor Control Board of Review.
Scott is an attorney specializing in business and trade development. His specialty involves business development and implementation of programs that support U.S. manufacturers and businesses. In essence, his work involves bringing in and helping retain business and jobs in the United States. Scott has worked with many municipal, county and state elected officials, as well as with their congressional delegations in Washington, D.C.
Scott received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Kansas; an MBA from Rockhurst University; and was awarded a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri Kansas City. He is a member of The Missouri Bar, and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.
